MOUNTCASTLE and TRADERS' HAVEN are offered by Mountcastle Properties for weekly or monthly rentals.
LOCATION-LOCATION-LOCATION!! Both MOUNTCASTLE and TRADERS' HAVEN are just 1/2 block (50 meters) from the beach. Both of these properties are on beautiful Pass-a-grille, the southern end of St. Pete Beach, Florida.
MOUNTCASTLE is a 6 bedroom compound consisting of a 5 bedroom House with a large Master Suite apartment and a large studio Cottage. MOUNTCASTLE is ideal for larger families and groups and also for smaller families desiring a great deal of space and privacy. MOUNTCASTLE is a private estate, a walled compound on two adjoining lots that can comfortably sleep 19 in 10 beds: 1 king, 4 queens, 2 doubles, 1 single, and 1 double futon bed and 1 queen pullout couch bed.
TRADERS'HAVEN is a 5 bedroom home that occupies the entire 2nd floor of the Mountcastle Building on Historic 8th Avenue. Comfortably sleeps 16: 4 queen beds, 1 double bed, and 3 double pullout futon couches.
JUNGLE GARDENS! MOUNTCASTLE: Several dozen palm trees, towering ferns, bamboo, bougainvillea, hibiscus bushes, and banana, papaya, kapok, mahogany and mango trees make the MOUNTCASTLE compound a private jungle. A giant jacuzzi (8ft) diameter with lightening, waterfall, and other amenities is located in this private garden for our guests' enjoyment.
TROPICAL JASMINE GARDEN!! TRADERS' HAVEN has a 50'long enclosed south porch with sea and bay, sunset and sunrise views and is located above Historic 8th Avenue. Also, it has a large open deck at the back of the building overlooking a tropical garden filled with jasmine, palms, bouganvilla and other tropical plantings. A giant jacuzzi (8ft) diameter with lightening, waterfall, and other amenities is located in this private garden for our guests' enjoyment.
Great seafood restaurants, a big deli, and a marina are within two blocks of the MOUNTCASTLE compound. TRADERS' HAVEN is directly on historic 8th Avenue, Pass-a-grille's shopping district, the location of a fishing wharf, great galleries and boutiques (including ours, Mountcastle International Trading Company, Ltd., see www.mountcastle.com )and seven great restaurants.
TRADERS' HAVEN on 8th Avenue and the MOUNTCASTLE compound are just a 15 min beach walk apart -convenient for larger groups requiring the accomodations of both of these unique beach homes.

ECONOMICAL!! with a per bed cost around $50/night and a per person cost of about $25/night. Enjoy the ambience, privacy, and economy of a home with hotel amenities close at hand! Private, secure access from within our locked, walled compound for Mountcastle and locked door on a well lit street for Traders' Haven.
FULL AMENITIES: Giant jacuzzi in beautiful garden at each property. Completely furnished properties. Fully equipped kitchens with three refrigerators and several coffee makers, toasters, and microwaves at each property. All linens including beach towels. Electronics: telephone, computers and high speed cable and wireless internet, cable TV, DVD, VCR, CD, cassette equipment. Beach equipment. Gas barbeque at each property. Large washers and dryers. Private parking for 3 vehicles a each property (a must at the beach!!)
CHILDREN’S AMENITIES: Two story treehouse and jungle gym (see photo below) on Mountcastle compound and toys, kids' cabin, crabbing nets and fishing gear at Traders’s Haven for children to enjoy. Of course, the huge Jacuzzi – Spa at each property is a great attraction for the children…....can swim even on the rare, grey winter day.(these are above ground with cedar cabinets, lockable covers and removable steps for safety) The Mountcastles are working overseas with 5 children, 5-11 years old. These properties are child friendly. Families are welcome!!
HURLEY PARK: with a playground, baseball diamond, tennis and basketball courts and a large picnic shelter is located between Mountcastle and Traders' Haven, at 15th Avenue, just a short walk from each property.
PARKING: MOUNTCASTLE and TRADER'S HAVEN each offer off-street parking for 3 vehicles. Arrangements can be made for more parking. However, you really do not have to have a car.
TRANSPORTATION: the Tourist Trolley stops a block away from each property giving easy access to all of St. Pete, Treasure Island, Madeira, Redington Shores and Clearwater Beaches. Also the taxi company is based just are minutes away and the public bus stops a block away.
TOURS: can pick you up from the nearby Don Cesar Hotel, a short walk up beach, and take you to all Tampa Bay and central Florida attractions, including Disney World, Epcot, Sea World, Cypress Gardens, Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, Tampa Aquarium and many others.
BOATS and FISHING: to Shell Island and Egmont Key, deep sea fishing, dolphin and sunset tours are available at the Merry Pier just steps from the Traders' Haven front door and a 15 minute walk from Mountcastle. The Pass-a-grille Yahct Club and the Pass-a-grille Marina are each just a block away from Mountcastle. Fishing and crabbing are great from a mile of seawall, the Merry Pier and Bait Shop docks, two public piers and even the beach.
